Current Projects
At Starr Construction, we are experienced in commercial remodeling as well as all phases of residential remodeling.
Here is a sample of the work we completed on a client's reception area in their office.
They say, "you never get a second chance to make a first impression!"
The granite countertop and custom cherry trim we added makes a striking first impression!!

This customer had an old, drafty wood burning fireplace which they rarely used. They had small bookcases on either side of the fireplace which offered very little storage or display space. We
removed their old concrete mantle and hearth, plastered over the old brickface, applied a border of
tile around the fireplace opening and installed a new, high efficiency gas fireplace insert which is
remote controlled. Then, we removed their old paneling, installed new drywall on the walls, we
fabricated and installed new floor-to-ceiling bookcases and a new mantle. The only thing missing is
our customers' new flat screen TV, which will be mounted over the fireplace.
Isn't the coloring of the room absolutely beautiful?

Eventhough we are quite busy, we always make time for "emergency" customers. A pipe burst in this homeowner's second floor bathroom. The water soaked the ceiling in the first floor living room, causing it to collapse. Fortunately, we were working on a home on his street. We were able to shut off the water and limit the damage. We replaced the entire plaster ceiling in the living room. We also reconfigured and remodeled the second floor bathroom. At Starr, we don't merely "think outside the box." In fact, we tend to totally disregard "the box," which both impresses and pleases our customers!

Need some extra space? At Starr Construction, we can help you with that! This is the home of one of our "repeat" customers (when you do great work, your customers come back!). We removed the roof and attic over one end of their home to add another bedroom to the second floor. We encountered some insulation and structural challanges, but our many years of experience helped the job run, smoothly!
This complete transfomation was completed in only 15 working days!!

We discovered the old roof had an insufficient amount of insulation. So, when we framed in the new addition, we
allowed space for the application of new, high efficiency foam insulation to be sprayed into the cathedral ceiling.
As you can see, here, the new, high efficiency foam insulation filled the ceiling cavity much better than the
original fiberglass insulation. Eventhough our customers added square footage to their home, they should
see their heating and cooling expenses reduced throughout the year!

This customer owns a beautiful home on a lake. When the time came that they needed a more space for their family, instead of building a new home away from their lake, they decided to remodel the entire house, adding more living space to the existing home. We converted their two car garage into a master bedroom suite by utilizing a small attached bedroom to become a master bathroom. We removed several wall inside the home to almost double the size of the original kitchen. Finally, we added a new garage onto the front of the home. Our customer was able to keep their beautiful views by expanding their horizons!

The photos below show the old kitchen and dining room being demo'd. Our knowledge and
experience helped us to evaluate, create and implement a solution to the load bearing wall
which were removed. The new kitchen will be much larger, brighter and open than the original!
Since our customers were living in the home during the remodeling process, we took great care
to ensure the demolition debris and dust would be retained in the work area, not spread throughout
the rest of their beautiful home. At Starr, we always go the extra mile for our customers!!

At Starr, we understand the difference between a house and a home! This customer had
purchased a beautiful log home on a large, scenic piece of property just north of Kalamazoo. As
their family grew, they needed more room. So, instead of moving to a new house, and losing the
beautiful home they raised their small children in, they decided to convert their garage into two
bedrooms and a bathroom for two of their now teenaged children. Now, they can continue to
raise their family in the home they have enjoyed over the years!
